Dear WIPA members and friends,
Recently, I was interviewed for a conference segment and was asked the dreaded question, “Take me back to 2020 – how did that impact you?” Even with so much to be optimistic about, did I really want to even glance in the rearview mirror to what was?
The fact is, we’re all at different points in this shared pandemic. I may be vaccinated and booking my first travel for the summer, but I’m still tied down considerably going into my 15th month of virtual school. Others may see an increase in bookings but are still trying to hire back from a skeletal staff. Some may be pursuing new careers within hospitality altogether.
Yes, events are coming back, but I think it’s safe to say none of us are the same.
This begs the question- what can we do better as pandemic (gratefully) impacts our days less? What have we learned? We’ve all worked hard to earn this spot on the other side of 2020 – what can we do to best maximize it?
It’s something we’re asking ourselves a lot at WIPA these days. We’re pursuing partnerships, exploring new regions and creating resources to help our leaders welcome members back to live chapter events.
As promised just six months ago with my first President’s letter, I want to reiterate our commitment to meet you where you are and support you in any way we can.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me at any time,

Meghan. 2021 WIPA President
