WIPA Reclaims Its Roots with a Return to Original Association Name, Strengthening Its Commitment to the Wedding Industry

ATLANTA, GA – In a significant move to align more closely with its foundational values and mission, the Wedding International Professionals Association (WIPA) is proud to announce its return to the original name that reflects its deep-rooted commitment to advancing the wedding industry, Wedding Industry Professionals Association.

Chris Lavoie, President of WIPA for 2024, expressed enthusiasm about the renaming, stating, “This name change marks a pivotal moment in our journey, reinforcing our dedication to being at the forefront of industry innovation and education. We’re not just returning to our original name; we’re embracing our heritage to shape a brighter future for all our members.”

The decision to revert to “Wedding Industry Professionals Association” comes after thoughtful deliberation on the Association’s direction and how best to serve its members. This strategic renaming highlights WIPA’s commitment to providing unparalleled education and networking opportunities, driving diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, and fostering a global community of wedding industry professionals dedicated to excellence.

“WIPA continues to experience unprecedented interest and subsequent growth from regions across the United States,” explains Mara Mazdzer, WIPA’s Immediate Past President. “With the collective support of our 2024 National Board, this decision allows our name to better reflect the organization’s current mission and representation of its members. In 2023 we experienced over 50% growth in our US based chapters and have recently welcomed Houston as our 21st Chapter.”

As WIPA looks ahead, the Association is set to introduce new programs and resources that cater to the evolving needs of its members, reinforcing its position as a leader in the wedding industry. The renaming is a testament to WIPA’s resilience and adaptability, especially in the face of the challenges posed by the pandemic, which the Association navigated with unwavering support for its members.

Lavoie also notes that WIPA will continue to welcome International wedding brands and US-based companies that conduct business Internationally – the focus and goal is to open an additional 2-3 US based chapters in 2024.
