Spring Cleaning Your Business: 5 Steps You Can Implement Today For A Fresh Start
by WIPA National Director of Chapter Success, Deanna Nash (Southern California Chapter)

As the champagne pops and confetti drops from the New Year recede into fond memories, the approach of a new wedding season looms large with the promise of many celebrations to come! As we move into the new season, here are five ways to prepare your business for a fresh start to a busy year.
- Clean Out Your Email Inbox
I know, I know—it’s easier said than done for those of us (I’m looking at myself) who don’t subscribe to the inbox zero lifestyle. By the end of last year, my inbox felt out of control, so I decided that while inbox zero was probably not realistic for me, I could take another approach that would give me peace of mind. Going forward, every Friday, I spend one hour taking a proverbial mop and broom to my inbox and giving it a good scrub. I delete junk emails, file emails that have already been responded to into folders and answer any outstanding emails from that week or add them to my action list for the following week. It’s a system that feels sustainable and allows me to go into each weekend without the feeling of leaving things undone. - Review All the Software and Systems You Use to Manage Your Business
Chances are, you’ll find some redundancies in the platforms you use on a regular basis and may even find some that were long forgotten or are no longer ideal for your business model. Reviewing and editing will help you refine your process and likely save you a few dollars you may have been spending on unused systems. - Review Your Inquiry Process
If you’re like me, you long ago landed on an inquiry and sales process that worked for you, and you may not have made more than minor tweaks to it in the interim. But while that process may still work for you, does it work for your ideal client avatar? If you’re using purely automated systems with little personalization, does that work if your target audience is in the luxury client category? While your business has grown, your target market has likely changed as well, and setting yourself up to meet them where they are will benefit your business in the long run. - View Your Workspace from the Perspective of Potential Clients
Would you hire you if you walked into your studio? Do the stacks of paper and that pile of wedding décor in the corner seem like a creative genius works here, or does it look like unorganized chaos that might scare away future clients? Good filing and storage systems are key to maintaining a clutter-free work zone. And it’s a scientific fact that an uncluttered workspace enhances productivity and reduces stress. - Update All Your Marketing Materials
Last, but certainly not least, you will want to go through all of your platforms and your website and update so that your brand is cohesive everywhere a client might find you. Some examples include reviewing your sales funnel copy, adding new website photos, re-work your onboarding documents, refreshing your bio on all social media platforms, uploading new bio photos, and updating the copyright dates at the bottom of your website. Set aside a couple of hours, take those items off the proverbial back burner, and you’ll most likely be done for the year (!) with those housekeeping items.
Cheers to a successful 2025!
