OCTOBER 2020 NEWSLETTER

October is usually a time for ghost stories, and one of the things that scares me is the thought of not being involved in WIPA. I know it may seem crazy, but there was once a time when I was hesitant to take on a leadership role in WIPA. I know that is surprising for most of you, as I have been heavily involved for the past 10 years or so, but it's true. I felt like I wasn't qualified for the position that was available at the time, I felt like I didn't have the time to commit to WIPA to really make an impact, and I felt like the tiniest fish in a huge pond. Well, thanks to a little bit of arm twisting I made the leap and I've never looked back. I really can't imagine what my business would look like today without WIPA and I'll forever be grateful to this organization for the leadership skills I've learned and the friends I've made across the country!

It might seem scary to take that leap and get involved on a Board or Committee, but I can assure you that you won't regret it! The nominations process on the local and International level is open through October 30th and I hope you'll nominate yourself or somebody you know. It's more important than ever to cultivate a strong leadership group, so take this opportunity to step up and become a leader to help us navigate through this new normal!

I end this month with a quote from W. Clement Stone: "Thinking will not overcome fear but action will." The more you think about something you're scared of the more you can talk yourself out of doing it... so just take the leap!

After all the lockdowns and covid delays of recent months, several of our chapters are once again highlighting their creativity and resourcefulness.  Featuring both safe and unique meetings some in person and others virtually, here is a sample of a few of the WIPA happenings around the country. Recently Seattle hosted a successful drive-in movie night and the Atlanta chapter is hosting a concert in the parking lot.

Utah is continuing with virtual craft meetings for cocktails and wreath making and Las Vegas has an upcoming picnic planned at the Palace Station. New Orleans and Gulf South is planning a meeting featuring Andrea Eppolito and Phoenix will feature a “Mask-arade and Mingle” at the end of the month as all of our chapters strive to demonstrate the strength of the WIPA community.
